The first step in exploring therapy with me is an initial assessment. This will give us a working, continually updated psychological diagnosis that fits your symptoms or life problems. With this as a basis, we then collaboratively seek to identify causes of your symptoms or problems. Some of these causes become evident as we simply talk about your life, your habits, your thoughts and feelings, and your relationships.
We will use science-based, rigorous methods of analysis to try to discern any causes that are contributing to symptoms or life problems, then create an individualized treatment plan to target those. For some individuals, we can address causes of mental health issues within sessions, by holding particular dialogues. For others, addressing these may require commitment to changes outside of sessions like changing daily habits or trying a new activity in-between sessions (behavioral "homework").
